Step by step, the way keeps opening. Rebekah runs home, her brother Laban hurries out, and soon the servant is welcomed into the house, his camels fed and his feet washed. What began as a prayer at a well is now an open door into the family.
Laban's motives may have been mixed — he certainly noticed the gold jewelry — yet God was still moving the whole situation forward. This is a comforting truth: God can accomplish His purposes even through imperfect people. He is not limited by the mixed hearts of those around us.
When God is leading, doors tend to open in the right order and at the right time. The servant did not have to force his way in; hospitality was extended to him. This does not mean every open door is God's will — we still need wisdom (Acts 16:6-10). But when we have prayed and stepped out in obedience, we can trust God to arrange the details we cannot control.
